Valentia Rock

Fossilized footprints identified on Valentia Island off the
southwest coast of Ireland Date back
385 Million Years ago

Valentia Island, Ireland

These prints, which form a trail about 15 meters long,
were made a staggering 365 million years ago - 200 million years before even the dinosaurs! - and are the oldest ever found in the northern hemisphere; so old that the metre-long salamander-type creature which made them was probably one of the first ever amphibians to begin the transition to becoming a reptile. The only prints known to be older,
dating to 400 million years, are to be found in Australia

Costal Rock Formations, Ireland

WARNING !!
This area is Very Dangerous with Huge Atlantic Swells hitting these rocks.
It is also very Slippery so we have decided until the area is properly secured with Railings and Paths not to give its location at present.

However we look forward to sharing this with Visitors to our County
in the near future
