Caherciveen by a car ferry and exit at Portmagee.
Valentia was where the first Transatlantic Cable was laid all the way to America in 1857, you can also visit the Slate Quarry and the Light House, there are many remains of old structures including Stone (Ring) Forts and Churches. Out to Sea you can see The Skellig
Rocks 700 feet out of the Atlantic Ocean was used by monks as a monastery from the 5th. Century, you can visit the rocks by boat and is highly recommenced so bring a packed lunch from the Lake Hotel.
Heading on to Waterville turn right at the church and right again and take the Cosatal road into Waterville. There are some very good restaurants here for lunch, the Smuggler's Inn, Huntsman and the Fisherman's Bar. (2.) Derrynane and Abbey Island

Derrynane is mostly famous for being the home of the Great Daniel O'Connell, Irelands Hero and a crusader for the common man. It is open to the public and is well worth a visit, his Triumphant carriage can also be seen here. Huge crowds welcomed The Liberator (Daniel O'Connell) back to Ireland in Dublin with hard won rights for the Irish People. Daniel O'Connell's family graveyard at Abbey Island is an interesting spot to take a walk.

The Beaches here are some of the best in the World, clean waters turquoise in color at times. A dip in the Ocean is very refreshing here in the summer months. Surfers will also be interested in the Back beach as the Surf can be some of the best in Kerry. There are over 4 beaches at Derrynane and follow the signs as the one furthest south has strong currents and is not suitable for swimmers. Book a Ring of Kerry Hotel @

(1.) Optional tour of Valentia Island, Saint Finnans Bay and Ballinskelligs.
