The Lake Hotel borders the Killarney National
Park and
Muckross House and Gardens is only 5 minutes by car,
or 25. Min Walking and 15 min . Cycling
There are also Traditional Farms and Restaurant
at Muckross House. There are 100's of walks and cycle paths
timber bridges, railway sleeper paths to many to mention.

Drive or take a bus on the Dingle Peninsula,
you won't be disappointed

Ross Castle is 3 miles from the the Hotel,
you can rent boats here
or take a enclosed boat one every half hour on a guided tour
of the Lower Lake in Killarney.
The Castle is also open for Guided tours every hour.
You can also visit Innisfallen Island where Brian Boru ( high
King of Ireland was said to be Educated ) The Book of Innisfallen
was written here going back to the 7th. Century.

If you Drive to the car park at Dinis you
can walk 1 mile to Dinis Cottage and see The " Meeting
of the Waters " and the Old Weir Bridge. Alternatively
you can cycle around the middle Lake for walk to get here
( 10 miles from the Lake Hotel 1 mile is on the main road
)

Torc Waterfall flows from the Devil's Punchbowl
( a glacial lake in the top of Mangerton Mountain ) It has
Great climbs / walks if you continue up the steps, you will
find the Old Kenmare road or the Viewing Towers or Torc Mountain,
which look down on the Middle Lake, Muckross House and Killarney.
There is also a Hermit's hut and Well on the Face of Torc.
( Be warned it is fairly overgrown )

A Boat trip to Skelligs, what can I say
: 13 miles off the Coast,
40,000 Gannets, Puffins, The finest example of early Christian
Monastery's ( 600 AD. ) 700 feet out of the Atlantic Ocean.
Can be booked from the Hotel ( calm weather only ! )
The waters are famous for Basking Sharks, Seals and Dolphins.
You will need your own car to get to Portmagee for the boat.

The Ring of Kerry, the most popular tour in Ireland,
Breath taking scenery, A full day is needed, A bus tour
can be booked at the Hotel of you can drive your self as
the road is fairly good. ( 113 miles )

or Bike to Kate Kearney's 
Cottage / Bike, walk or Jaunting Car 6 miles through the Gap
with its many Lakes. Lunch at Lord Brandons Cottage, then
you take an open Boat 13 miles ( bring your bike ) Lake /
River / lake and Lake
setting down at Ross Castle ( group's of 10 or larger can
be
dropped at the Lake Hotel ) A great Trip !

Walk ( 10.5 km. )
You need two cars, park one at Kate Kearney's Cottage
one at Carrauntuohill's car park.
Head up the Devils Ladder and turn left, stay on top of the
ridges
not for those afraid of heights, it's a knife edge in the
sky !
